Traumatic Emergencies
Animals hit by a car, gunshot wounds, fractures, amputations, trauma to the skin, bites and scratches.

Eye and Ear Emergencies
Proptosed globe (eye out of socket), trauma to the eye, corneal foreign bodies, acute glaucoma, sudden blindness, tonometry measurements.

Neurologic Emergencies
Head trauma, excessive shaking or tremors, seizures, disorientation, unresponsiveness.

Gastrointestinal Emergencies
Vomiting, diarrhea, GI diseases and problems.

Environmental Emergencies
Electric shock, near drowning, heat stroke and hyperthermia (too hot), and hypothermia (not warm enough).

Skin Emergencies
Lacerations, bite wounds, burns, abscesses, eye and ear problems.

Respiratory Emergencies
Choking, laryngeal paralysis, tracheal collapse, pneumonia, oxygen therapy, ventilator therapy, thoracocentesis, tracheotomy, chest tube placement, arterial blood gas analysis and end tidal CO2 monitoring.

Cardiovascular Emergencies
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (basic and advanced, including defibrillation), congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, thromboembolism, pericardial effusion, diagnostic imaging, electrocardiogram interpretations, blood pressure monitoring (direct and indirect), and drug therapy.

Metabolic and Endocrine Emergencies
 
Diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, glucose monitoring, hypoadrenocorticism, hypocalcemia, hypercalcemia.

Urinary and Reproductive Emergencies
Problems urinating, kidney disease, problems associated with birth and delivery, including cesarean sections.

Toxicologic Emergencies
Antifreeze, Tylenol (acetaminophen), chocolate, household cleaning products, lead poisoning, marijuana, organophosphates, rat poisons, scorpion sting, snakebite envenomation, spider bite, and
many others. .

Avian and Exotic Species
EPC is not a practice that specializes in the treatment of birds or exotic pets; however, because these animals do require emergency care from time to time, we are willing to treat these animals to the best of our ability. We are willing to work with your veterinarian in any way that we can.
