The Ideal canine candidate:

• Weighs a lean 50 pounds or more
• Is between the ages of 1 and 8 years old
• Is currently on a preventative health care plan under the supervision of their family veterinarian
• Has never received a transfusion
• Has never been pregnant
• Is friendly and outgoing
• Is free from non-preventative medicines (heartworm and flea preventative is okay)
• Is in general good health.
• Is able to donate five to six times per year (once every two months)

The ideal canine owner is:

• Willing to schedule a 15 minute appointment every two months
• Willing to keep their dog current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative
• Willing to notify the EPC if you are planning to take your pet outside of Texas
